CLUTTER EXCUSES AND SOLUTIONS

1. It was expensive, I can't see it go to waste
If you don’t use it, it is still a waste ( donate, sell or give away)

2. It was a gift
Once you receive a gift, it is yours to do what you wish with it

3. I might use it again SOMEDAY
If you have not used it in the past year, chances are you won’t use it

If you are still having trouble, try these:

  • Put item(s) away in a sealed box in storage and check it again in 6 months to a year.
  • If there was an emergency and you had one hour to gather all important items would this be one? If not, why?

As you are able to apply tiny organizing tips to your everyday life they will become habits and you will be increasingly more organized.

Pick one and just do it or schedule it in your calendar:

  • Organize your refrigerator door
  • Empty all of the wastebaskets
  • Clean out your sock drawer
  • Take care of your errand box (return, repairs)
  • Scan your computer files and delete ones you no longer need
  • Clean out your purse, or wallet
  • Dust the ceiling fans
  • Pick something up that is out of place and return it to its assigned spot
  • Donate a book you no longer read to the library
  • Donate a toy that your child does not play with anymore
  • Drop a note to an old friend or family member who is far away
  • Check all expiration dates on medicine
  • Organize your car’s trunk and glove compartment
  • Get a car wash
  • Clean out ONE drawer, ONE cabinet, ONE file
